About this course

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (previously CTLLS) is a nationally accredited post 16 teaching qualification. 

The course consists of six units:
  1. Understanding roles and responsibilities in education and training 
  2. Planning to meet the needs of learners education and training
  3. Delivering education and training 
  4. Assessing learners in education and training 
  5. Using resources for education and training 
  6. Inclusive practice

The course assessment is a combination of written assignments and practical teaching evidence. Learners must be able to log 30 hours of current teaching practice, including three lesson observations.

Why this course?

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training has been designed for trainee teachers or current trainers.

It is suitable for learners who:
  • want a qualification that is based around practical teaching
  • are currently teaching and want recognition of their experience with a nationally accredited teaching qualification
  • are new to teaching, but are able to log the required 30 hours 

Upon successful completion of the course, learners have the option of achieving full teacher status by progressing to the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
