It is a traditional teacher training qualification, encouraging learners to reflect on their current teaching practice and develop their teaching skills.

About this course

The new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching provides teacher status in the post 16 and adult teaching sector. 
 
 The course consists of eleven units:
1.   Pedagogic methodologies and curriculum development in further education
2.   Understanding learners and educational practices in further education
3.   Professionalisms and inclusive teaching practices in further education
4.   Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in further education
5.   Partnership working and collaboration in further education
6.   Assessment principles and practice in further education
7.   Resource development and management for effective learning in further education
8.   Teaching practice in further education
9.   Behaviour management in further education
10.   Professional development and reflective practice in further education
11.   Digital pedagogies for teaching and learning in further education

Learners must produce a portfolio of evidence that is a combination of written assessments and practical teaching evidence. 
 
They must log 150 hours of teaching practice, including ten lesson observations.
