Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 Hour)

Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 Hours) covers everything you need to know about how to help a sick or injured child / infant during an emergency. The course is taught over one practical day.

This course follows the latest guidelines from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is fully recognised by Ofsted. Learners are awarded a nationally recognised certificate valid for 3 years.

About this course

Emergency Paediatric First Aid is taught over one classroom day (6 hours). During the day, a Train Aid instructor will be on hand to teach you how to come to the assistance of a child / infant who has had an accident or sudden illness.

The training day focuses on a core set of lifesaving skills that can be applied in and out of the workplace. Learners are assessed through practical observation and multiple-choice questions at the end of the day.

  • Responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Non-breathing child / infant (CPR)
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Choking
  • Major bleeding
  • Seizures
  • Minor injuries & burns

Why this course?

This course is suitable for nannies, schools, babysitters, sports coaches, and anyone else who would like a basic understanding of paediatric first aid.

It can help childcare workers, incl. schools, meet the requirements of both Ofsted and the EYFS. Most importantly, the taught knowledge can be used to save the life of an infant / child during a real-life emergency.

Childminders, nursery school workers, and after-school club staff should enrol in the 12-hour paediatric first aid qualification. Click here to view this course.

The minimum age for this nationally recognised course is 16. Please note that younger learners can still complete a non-regulated equivalent if supervised by an adult.
