About this course

The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment gives learners the knowledge and skills to accurately assess employees' competence in the workplace.

The course has two units:
  1.  Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 
  2.  Assess occupational competence in the work environment 

The course assessment is a portfolio of evidence comprising a written assessment and four workplace assessments.

This qualification is intended for those who assess occupational competence in the work environment.

You do not need previous experience in assessment, but you must have access to at least 2 candidates to carry out your practical assessments.

Classroom

We deliver the three-day classroom course regularly in London and Manchester.

Over the three days, you will complete the written assessment for Unit 1, and our experienced tutor will help you plan your workplace assessments.

After the three days, you will return to work to complete your four workplace assessments, with a Train Aid assessor visiting you to observe the final assessment.

The three-day video webinar course simulates our classroom course virtually online. You still have the advantage of a live tutor and peers, but without the need to travel.

Unit 1 is completed electronically during the three days under the guidance of your tutor. 

After the virtual three days, you return to work to carry out the four practical workplace assessments.
