It can be used to gain an initial understanding of how assessments work for any aspiring assessor who may wish to learn the theory before moving into practical application. This also applies to managers who may not be actively assessing themselves, but do need to understand the work that their staff members are carrying out.

If you ever wish to progress to become a fully qualified assessor, the most popular route is the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA). You will be able to use the 3 credits of this theory unit when applying for the course. 

This qualification leads to an Ofqual-accredited certificate demonstrating knowledge in the field of assessment. The qualification is part of the lifelong learning sector and does not need to be renewed/refreshed.
